THE HUMAN: Wibe & Keeng-K

Summer's here and everywhere’s  heating up! To soundtrack these  sizzling July days, rising stars Wibe and Keengkay have teamed up for the ultimate feel-good anthem, "Right By Me." YAP caught up with the dynamic duo to chat about the infectious new track and their journeys in the music industry so far.

The Vibe is Right

"Right By Me" is pure summer magic, according to Wibe. "It's good energy, it's a vibe," they explain. "We're dancing, it's July, it's summer – you definitely want someone right by you, the timing's just perfect."

Keengkay echoes the sentiment, highlighting the song's unique blend of genres. "The night we made this, we made three other songs and all were bangers, but this one stood out because of the vibe," he says. "It's a style of rap I've not really been accustomed to, it has a bit of grime, afro and rap to it – basically it's the birth of something great, something special."

Eyes Forward on the Music Journey

Both artists are brimming with excitement for what the future holds. "So far my journey at this point is basically 'eyes forward,'" says Wibe. "Everything is new, everything is exciting, everything is serious but really fun and I just want to keep that going. I'm practically having fun!"

Keengkay's path to music has been a bit more winding. "My music journey has been really interesting," he shares. "Started making music in 2016, stopped for a while then picked it back up in 2022. I've been discovering my sound and message I want to pass on."

He emphasizes the transformative power of music. "My music career has been so interesting, because it brought out a part of me that needed to come out, people needed to hear me," he reflects. "It's been good, it's been a great music experience and there's so much more to come."
