“You Think Say You Wise”:

A Tale of Arrogance and Disregard for the People

Written by Alexander Ogunmola and Young Eta

In an opulent office in a high-rise building, two of the very best sit aback in their plush chairs, watching from above as a throng of protestors gather below. Sipping on their drinks, they chuckled at the sight before them.

"Look at them, Awon Omode”. They actually think they can make a difference! Don't they know it's my turn now?" he exclaimed while letting out a rigid cough.

His excellency chuckled in agreement, "Ha! When they're done with their little temper tantrum, they'll realize we're the ones in charge."

Despite his weakened state and frequent coughing, he leaned forward in his chair and confidently asserted, "Do they truly believe that this is their country? They must not know that I’m next in line. They ought to show some respect and take a seat." As he cleared his throat and coughed once more, he proceeded to snort another line of cocaine, revealing the depth of his addiction and disregard for his own health.

His excellency laughed heartily, "Ha! Them think say them wise! I've been playing rote with this country since the first coup. They'll never be able to oust us."

As the two cohorts bantered, the protestors below continued to shout and wave their signs, completely oblivious to the futility of their efforts.

His excellency had an idea, "You know what would be fun? Let's go down there and mess with them a bit. It'll be good for a laugh."

The frail leader eagerly agreed, "Ha! Yes, let's do it. They can't do anything to stop us anyway."

They both descended from their lofty office and made their way to the gathering below. They jeered and taunted the "dumb peasants," taking pleasure in their own power and superiority.

As the sun began to set on another day in their corrupt reign, they proceeded to the ground floor, laughing and joking about the foolishness of the masses. For them, it was just another day in the life of a political leader in Nigeria - a life of wealth, power, and endless amusement at the expense of the people they claimed to serve.

The two leaders cheered together and laughed, knowing that they had once again outsmarted the people they were supposed to be leading.
